Current State of the Mill Site

In 2014, after 60 years in the possession of other residents, the Alta Mill site returned to the ownership of the Stucky family.

Unfortunately the site had become quite overgrown and the buildings had fallen into disrepair.  John E. Stucky's house was unrepairable and had to be torn down.  However, the foundation of the house still exists.

The mill was torn down in 1960 leaving only the foundation.  The warehouse attached to the mill is collapsing due to heavy snows.  However, there are plans to hopefully rebuild the warehouse someday.

Currently the Alta Mill area is under rehabilitation and is not open to the public for reasons of safety.  If you wish to see the mill site, please contact Brian Stucky for a tour.  To contact him, please visit the "contact" page on this website.
